Do you believe in vampires, not just in the movies, but in the real world? Vampirism is the belief in the existence of vampires and/or the actions or practices of a vampire. I was surprised my visit last week to preview Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights wasn’t a more vampiric experience. Considering our current pop culture climate, I expected a madhouse of hissing, sexy vampires — an exercise in simple supply and demand. Wrong-o.
Sure, Dracula did have one of the eight haunted houses dedicated to him, where his many brides zoom and dance above your head. He didn’t make the cut for top billing, however; that’s shared among Wolfman, Chucky and the creepy puppet from “Saw.”

This fall, over a dozen new titles will be released with new forbidden love interests - angels. That would be fallen angels to be exact. Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick and Fallen by Lauren Kate are just two of the books coming our way soon. I’ve been informed that both of these are sure to appeal to the Stephenie Meyer generation, but I have some doubts that there can truly be a fallen angel that will capture our hearts the way Edward Cullen has.
