Summit Entertainment announced the replacement of “Twilight Saga” star Rachelle Lefevre in the series’ third film, “Eclipse,” on Tuesday night – and fans weren’t the only ones surprised by the news — Rachelle was shocked as well!

“I was stunned by Summit’s decision to recast the role of Victoria for ‘Eclipse,’” Rachelle said in a statement to Access Hollywood.

On Tuesday, Summit announced that Bryce Dallas Howard would be taking on the role in “Eclipse,” due in May 2010.

“I was fully committed to the ‘Twilight’ saga, and to the portrayal of Victoria,” Rachelle continued, explaining the turn of events that led to the casting change. “I turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules. My commitment to ‘Barney’s Version’ is only ten days. Summit picked up my option for ‘Eclipse.’ Although the production schedule for ‘Eclipse’ is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those ten days and would not accommodate me. Given the length of filming for ‘Eclipse,’ never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10 day overlap. I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it. Summit chose simply to recast the part.”

The Insider has posted a new photo from New Moon.

It looks like the Twilight vampire known as Victoria is getting some new fangs. Sources at Summit Entertainment say actress Bryce Dallas Howard (Terminator Salvation, Spider-Man 3, The Village) will be stepping in to replace Rachel Lefevre, who is stepping aside due to scheduling conflicts over another part the actress has committed to playing. Lefevre originated the role of Victoria in the first film, and will be seen in the sequel, New Moon. Howard will play the part for the third installment, Eclipse. That movie is set to be directed by David Slade from a screenplay written by Melissa Rosenberg, and is expected to be released theatrically in the U.S. and Canada on June 30, 2010.

The Stephenie Meyer penned series of modern teenage vampire tales has definitely captured a lucrative market world-wide.

And if there is one term that grabs the attention of game developers, it is ‘lucrative market world-wide’.  Hence it was a sure bet that somebody somewhere would seek to tap into this fiction.

Not a great deal of information about this project thus far.  The main description on the web sight though would indeed be enticing to fans of the series, the game promises to “..allow players to immerse themselves into a deeper form of storytelling and adventure, gaining a deeper understanding of The Twilight Saga through your explorations and discoveries.”  Sounds,, um… Deep!

Mtv’s Hollywood Crush Says It Could Happen.

If anyone was wondering if there’s any bad blood (no pun intended) between the “Twilight” and “True Blood” crews, think again. It seems like there’s enough room in the vampire genre for both groups to thrive and prosper. So much so that “True Blood” star Sam Trammell, who plays bar owner Sam Merlotte, is hoping for a little cross-over action.

You see, Sam wants Kristen Stewart to come on the show and instead of playing a lovelorn human, he wants her to take a bite out of playing a bloodsucker. “I really loved her in Adventureland,” he told E! News. “I’d love her to come on. She could be a little vampire or a victim.” Here at Hollywood Crush, we’d really like to see her get vampy on the small screen, too.
